The Republican War on the Media & Truth

The White House and Congressional allies have begun attacking Knight Ridder for a story that labelled Judge Alito a "committed judicial conservative". He is a "committed judicial conservative". That's why Bush nominated him. Bush promised his base in the elections of 2000 and 2004 to appoint conservative jurists to the Supreme Court. What this incident really shows, beyond the Administration's war on the English language, is there is a Republican war on the media. In the name of "fair and balanced", the Republicans are on a constant campaign to smear the media as "liberally biased". The only way anyone could construe the media as liberal is by its reliance on facts, and its insistence on reporting on the "reality based" world. I'm getting sick of hearing Republicans whine that they get unfavorable coverage in the media. Just because they repeatedly lie when talking about issues of real importance and are a bunch of corrupt, shameless hypocrites (three branches under the control of Republicans; absolute power corrupts absolutely).
